News and Events:
A Day in the Life of MSIT Students
MSIT students
spend Saturday with us, attending classes, mingling with their colleagues,
and planning the next week's work/study schedule. Classes are held
in the Technological Institute on Northwestern's Evanston campus.
Students begin
arriving at about 8:45 a.m., enjoying some breakfast and conversation,
and getting ready for class.

Classes begin
promptly at 9:30 AM, so after grabbing some breakfast, Sriram, Kamal
and Brian run off to class. Brendan, Greg, Pam and Andy are going
over some notes right before class.

There is a break midway through each class. This gives students
time to replenish their palates with water or coffee, and to compare
notes, as Laura, Jeremy and Brendan are seen here.
The next picture
shows second year students in Prof. Gellman's IT development and
innovation course, Course 445. Please note that classrooms are spacious,
which offers students a comfortable learning environment.
The Class of 2005 has initiated the “MSIT Tribune,”
which is a student-led series of short presentations about work-related
topics. Students volunteer to give 5-15 minute presentations right
before lunch, about things they’re working on in their companies.
The MSIT Tribune was the brainchild of Stephen Li, Class of 2005,
who works at Motorola. Aaron Ballew (2nd from right), prepares his
presentation with Laura, Jeremy and Bryce.

Here we are
at lunch in the Allen Center, a five-minute walk from classes in
Tech. The Allen Center offers a buffet lunch with a wide range of
choices.

After lunch, students are anxious to return for the afternoon classes.
Shown here are Claudio (left) and Bob rushing back from lunch.
This is our
classroom assistant, John, who sets up the classrooms and helps
students with copying or other classday needs. John is seen here
with George Nejmeh, Program Faciltator.

You see students
grabbing some refreshments before the afternoon classes.
Professor Chernev (left), and Professor Wolff teach the afternoon
courses this Fall.
The afternoon
break is a welcome sight for the students. Cookies
and milk and fruit are offered, which gives students the added
boost for the remainder of the day. Students also take advantage
of the white boards to discuss course material.
The scores are provided for some of the student's favorite sports
teams.
Then it's back to class.....
We hope you
enjoyed this little tour of an MSIT class day.
