MSIT Students
Your experience in the M.S. in Information Technology program is enriched by the diversity of our students, who come from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds. Education
Many students have undergraduate degrees in engineering or computer science, although this is not a requirement for the program. Others have business or liberal arts degrees and have assumed IT-related job responsibilities and are interested in formalizing their IT skills. The academic background for our current classes of students is:
Computer Science and Telecommunications: 53%
Business (accounting, finance, economics): 12%
Engineering: 17%
Liberal arts, fine arts, and performing arts: 10%
Science and math: 8%
Work
All students must have work experience in an IT or IT-related position before starting the program. Students with a technical undergraduate degree, such as engineering, are required to have at least two years of work experience, while students with non-technical educational backgrounds must have at least four years of post-degree work experience. Our students' work experience ranges from 2 years to over 25 years.
Their job titles are varied, ranging from network administrator to vice-president, and they work in all industries, including financial services, government, healthcare, and manufacturing. See Participating Companies for a list of over 100 companies that have employed our students.
